Time Travel through the Stones....

Wouldn't it be the most fantastic vacation to (temporarily) time travel through the stones of Stonehenge and visit all your dreams? Maybe even find some long lost answers to your family genealogy?
No airplanes to worry about...
Agent 99 is raring to go.....

My Librarian Card: the path to Pismo Beach, California

My daughter just posted HER librarian trading card, so I had to do mine, too. Anne's a techno wizard; I am not.
If you ever get to California, go to Pismo Beach. It is the best beach in California. This is the staircase from our hotel to the beach. It's a long and winding way down, but so worth it.
Beaches in California are used year-round. They rarely become overly clogged with humanity. They are perfect for walking, building sandcastles, reading a book, or playing in the water. Do take a good sunscreen!

RSS, MERLIN, TECHNORATI.....

COMCAST does not have RSS feeds!

So, in the spirit of trying to complete this endeavor, I have a new email account at pagingksmart@yahoo.com

I have RSS links to news, news, and more news, People magazine and MERLIN. MERLIN emailed me at my library account: that is good news!

Now, anyone know of a good genealogy RSS? Anybody know where to find a complete or almost complete Virginia census for 1790, 1800 and 1810 southern Virginia? I know about Binns....

Fourth of July 2007

Happy 4th of July! There is currently a tornado watch in our area. My hubby has dashed outside to the barbecue.... Will we or won't we have steak for dinner??

Has anyone done a "librarian trading card"? I love the idea. Whenever I travel, I visit a library (don't we all? Be honest!) and then I give their friendly librarian a Harford County Library souvenir such as a pen with our logo on it. Every librarian loves these goodies, and then they try to find something to give me with their logo on it. San Francisco Main Branch gave me a calendar. Librarians around the world love to meet other librarians.

Hey, why don't we as a system design a library trading card? No one's personal picture has to be on it, of course! It could be very simple or could include a calendar or notepad or.....

Anyway, I am going to try and make one for myself without my picture on it just to see if I can do it!

Paris

I went to Paris!

My first blog (again)

Well, it helps if one remembers to verify their account after spending way too much time composing their first entry! My first entry has disappeared into the neverworld never to be seen again....and, blast it, I liked that entry!

Ok, I have been at various positions in this library system for 22 years....although never in one position more than 3 years at a time. I love my husband and my daughters, coffee, chocolate, reading historical time-travel fiction and biographies, the beach, painting and decorating, and genealogy. Actually, at the moment I am obsessed with genealogy...

Thank goodness my husband is, too. Any couple who willingly prefer to spend their wedding anniversary in the the Library of Virginia doing research on long-gone dead ancestors truly deserve each other! And, we actually had a grand and delightful time! Aren't I the luckiest girl in the whole wide world?

That said, I also would recomment that you go see the movie "Ratatouille".... My oldest daughter and I went to see it on her 22nd birthday. Daughters suddenly turn into perfect children on their 22nd birthdays!

Enough for my first post. Let's get this thing correctly sent into the wide, wide world....
